Australian workers have accumulated over 160 million days of untaken leave, a trend largely driven by increased workloads, financial concerns, and mental health struggles. This mounting leave liability poses challenges for both employees' wellbeing and business budgets.
With burnout on the rise, some employers are starting to mandate leave to support mental health and manage long-term costs, raising questions about whether Australians may eventually be required to take leave for their own and their organisation's benefit. For more details, read on.
