ATC2024 Wrap up

A big thank you to Briars Atlas photography for capturing ATC2024.

And that’s a wrap!

HUGE thanks to everyone who joined us for ATC2024 and helped us make our very first Melbourne ATC a smash hit.

The 2 days were buzzing with so many ideas and discussions, but here were some of our key takeaways and highlights:

  • Don’t put band-aids on bullet holes. If you want to deliver a sustainable solution to a talent challenge, go back to the beginning to Think Again about what needs to be done to deliver a sustainable solution (Tammy Ryder on re-assessing the Coles retention and internal mobility strategy).
  • The skills gap is widening as the shelf-life of skills is shrinking. What are you doing to re-skill your workforce and focus on skills-based hiring? (Rachael Townsley, Indeed)
  • Successful DEBI strategies and frameworks need to be built from lived experiences and inclusive engagement with the community (Tania Dowling & Mat Lewis, RMIT)
  • If you make hiring easy for the hiring manager, that ease of process will flow onto the candidate (Robert Hunter discussing McDonald’s McHire platform)
  • Want to hire and engage with more Gen Z candidates? Start thinking like Gen Z, a.k.a the Visual Generation! (Milimo Banji, TapIn)
  • AI’s not going anywhere, and recruiters need to learn how to harness the power of AI for menial tasks so they can focus on the human elements of TA (Kevin Wheeler)
  • Not sure where to start with EVP? Just start! (Ben Roberts, David Jones)
  • ‍Want to train ChatGPT out of fakeness? Treat it like a child. Tell it no. (Marrin-Boyd Andrews ☁️ (MBA) ☁️, Fonterra, on the art of AI prompting)
  • Have people with you who think like you, but not too like you. Have them challenge you, and can execute what they do really really well. (David Bell, Toll)

Of course these are just a handful of the loads and loads (and loads!) of great insights that were shared over the last 2 days. We have been blown away by the talent of the TA community.

A big thank you to all of the speakers, moderators, partners, sponsors, exhibitors, volunteers, and attendees who made ATC2024. We’re putting it lightly when we say we really can’t do it without you.

Let’s do it all again next year, shall we?

With 60% of the global population in work, the importance of addressing mental health risks in the workplace cannot be overstated.
