The talent teams that shape the future are the ones who study it first. The more I work in talent strategy, the more I realise that our biggest asset isn’t headcount. It’s foresight. Our ability to scan what’s happening outside the company, connect the dots, and bring back something useful. Not just market data, but understanding its implications and the opportunities it offers. Not just trends, but direction.
The strongest talent insights aren’t buried in dashboards. They’re discovered through curiosity. Through pattern recognition. Through asking: what’s shifting, and what does that mean for us?
Why Trend Insight Matters Now
When we talk about future capability, or skills that don’t exist yet, or roles we’re not hiring for yet – we’re talking about trend alignment. We’re talking about what’s changing in the industry, and whether we’re getting ahead of it or reacting too late.
That’s why industry trends analysis has become one of my go-to practices. Not just to inform recruitment but to shape workforce planning, succession strategy, leadership development, and brand positioning. Because if you can show what’s coming, you become the one people turn to when things get unclear.
How I Use Prompting To Do This
Industry research is messy. There’s no perfect report. No clean dataset. Just a lot of articles, voices, headlines, thought pieces, stats – all swirling around. It’s easy to get lost in it.
That’s where prompting helps me sharpen the signal. I use structured prompts to turn raw research into usable insight: trends, implications, opportunities, and risks all in one view.
A Prompt I Personally Use
Below is the exact prompt I use when I need to pull together a trends-based insight pack. Whether I’m prepping for a strategy session, supporting a workforce capability plan, or helping a business leader understand what’s changing in their sector.
It’s especially helpful when you want to shift a conversation from “what’s happening?” to “what should we do about it?”
This isn’t just a prompt for data. It’s a framework for thought leadership.
It helps me structure thinking around:
- What’s changing
- Why it matters
- What we can do about it
If you’re responsible for talent strategy, capability planning, or even just building credibility inside the business, this is the kind of insight that leaves a mark and gets remembered. It helps people make smarter bets on the future.

That’s a wrap on my four-week prompt series.
If you’ve been following along – thank you. And if you only skimmed the bold bits and saved a few for “later”… honestly, same. No judgment here.
Over the last month, I shared some of the prompts I actually use in my own work across:
- Recruitment (because summaries shouldn’t take all day)
- Sourcing (because search strategies shouldn’t start from scratch)
- Talent Marketing (because we all deserve better than copy-paste job ads)
Each one tackled a part of talent where I see people doing brilliant work but often without the structure, time, or support they really need. Prompts won’t fix everything – but they’ve helped me think faster, communicate clearer, and get unstuck more often than I’d like to admit.
If you tried one, saved one, or shared one – I hope it gave you something back: time, confidence, maybe just a nudge in the right direction when your brain was fried.
And if you’ve reached the point where you want to build your own Prompt Stack (and yes, it’s absolutely a thing), you’re welcome to check out ProPrompt. It’s not a sales pitch – just a space I’ve built to help people in talent do more with less guesswork.
Thanks again for following the series. Let’s keep finding smarter, more human ways to do the work that matters – one prompt at a time.
