Catching up with the Times – The Story of Australia Post

The Australia Post is currently undergoing an “existential crisis” says Chris Blake, Australia Post Executive General Manager for Corporate Affairs & People.
Australia PostTraditionally a postal service, the two-century old institution has experienced first-hand the transformations brought about by digital technologies. A large decrease in their core letters business saw its revenue reduced and the popularity of digital communications has resulted in a decline in its relevance.
To address these issues, the organisation revamped their business model in 2010 and implemented a new strategy aimed at increasing their offerings in the digital world. In addition to their mail and delivery business, Australia Post has now expanded their portfolio into retail, logistics and financial services among others.
However, in the midst of these changes, the organisation is also mindful about staying true to its vision and purpose. The ability to find a balance and to be able to maintain their core value of connecting people is a constant challenge it faces.
Chris will be sharing more about the Australia Post’s journey into the digital era and talk about how this iconic Australian business is transforming its workforce to meet tomorrow’s challenges at the upcoming ATC2016.
We had a quick chat with Chris to get a sneak peek into what he will be talking about at the conference – check it out!
