And now, the end is here,
And so I face the final curtain…
It’s my very last TWIT folks, and boy have I enjoyed the ride! It’s been so lovely to get back into the groove of writing, I’ve forgotten how much I love it.
As the first half of the year draws to a close, I can’t help but reflect on the on-going roller coaster ride us folks in the Talent space have been on. One minute we’re hot stuff, next minute, it’s, “head straight to jail, do not pass Go, and do not collect $200”.
When I was in between jobs during the start of the pandemic, I came together with a group of like-minded individuals to support a not-for-profit organisation, now globally known as Jobs for Humanity. I received an email this morning that they are now actively supporting 245k job seekers within the underrepresented communities! How staggering are those stats? But what’s even more staggering is that there are millions more out there that could do with our expertise in guiding them through the maze that is finding a job. So if you’re keen, look into how you can volunteer, or if you’re able to sign your organisation up to post jobs and hire within this rich community (there’s a 60 day trial at the moment).
But the reality is that not all of us have the luxury of time to volunteer, or start a podcast, YouTube channel, or blog. The hard and fast part of it is that we really need to put food on the table and pay the bills. So what else can you do when you find yourself out of a job? I would say, keep your skills relevant, and upskill where you can. Read, listen, research, and trial.
If you could redesign your job, or implement into a new role, what would that look like? What tools or ideas could you incorporate into your repertoire to blow the minds of your employers? What new skills would you pick up in your current role? What knowledge could you gain as you’re job hunting?
For my final post, I share a range of articles and ideas that you could start taking on, that may perhaps, change your work life within Talent!
I have very much enjoyed my time contributing to TWIT, I hope you’ve enjoyed reading my thoughts, and the articles or posts that I’ve shared! I bid you a fond, “Selamat Tinggal” for now!
