2024 Innovation Lab: Talent Tech Pitch Off

We’re huge fans of podcasts here at ATC, and we’re always looking for new recommendations.

So, we put it out to our LinkedIn community to find out what the Australia/NZ Talentsphere is loving listening to right now. Get ready to update your playlist – we had some cracker recommendations.

Here are all the Talent Acquisition and Recruitment podcasts you should be listening too right now.

Tapod – we talk Talent

Anyone who’s worked in Talent in Australia for more than 30 seconds will be familiar with Tapod, and there’s good reason why. Craig Watson and Lauren Sharp have over 40 years recruiting experience behind them, so they get that Talent is serious business. They talk to serious people, about serious people about serious things. But they blend their conversations with story-telling, humour, and a touch of self-depreciation.

Must-Listen episodes to add to your playlist:

  • We really need to talk about menopause
  • Recruitment Tinder dates and personal recessions
  • ‘Survivor Guilt’ & coping when your team is gone

Rubberband LIVE – The Australian Recruitment and Talent Acquisition Podcast

If you ever feel the need to sit down at a table and just have a really good chinwag about Talent, then this is the podcast of you. Chief Bander, ATC2023 MC, and all-round darling of the Australian Talentsphere Edan Haddock talks to experts from the Australia recruitment and Talent Acquisition space about things that will help you do your job better.

Must-Listen episodes to add to your playlist:

  • Boomerang Employees: How Custom Fleet’s EVP engaged their Alumni
  • Real Recruiters – on the tools with Sandra Lim
  • Recruitment Chinwag with Petey Wang

Recruiting Future with Matt Alder

One of the OG players in the Talent podcasting game, Recruiting Future with Matt Alder talks all things innovation and futurology in Recruiting, Recruitment Marketing and HR Technology. Matt interviews thought leaders who are influencing and changing an industry. With a back catalogue of over 600 episodes, there’s plenty of insights and interesting interviews to keep you going for a long while yet.

Must-Listen episodes to add to your playlist:

  • Quiet Hiring
  • Can AI be biased? Legal implications for recruiting
  • Talent Lessons from Elite Sport

HR Happy Hour

HR Happy Hour is the ultimate go-to for anything you want to listen to about HR, management, leadership, workforce tech, and so much more. This is a Media Network that includes 8 separate podcasts that all relate to HR & workforce, including Inclusion Crusade where they focus on DEBI, The Workplace Minute, a weekly 1-2 minute update on things currently impacting the world of work, and Radical Research, which deep dives into important learnings we need to apply to our future talent work. This one has something for everyone.

Must-Listen episodes to add to your playlist:

  • Challenges for Boeing Remind us that Company Culture Requires Nurturing
  • Two Organizations Show the Payoff from Sticking with Remote Work Policies

Better Work

Rose (Rosie) McAlister and Gemma Saunders know a thing or two about the benefits of diversity in the workplace (and in the world we live in). A newcomer to the Talent Podcast game (they only got started in March of this year), Better Work looks at all things D&I and the way that real people experience the realities of today’s workplace.

Must-Listen episodes to add to your playlist:

  • Is recruitment really inclusive?
  • Is the workplace fatphobic?
  • How can we better show up for our transgender colleagues?

The Modern People Leader

A podcast that looks at what it means to be a good people leader in today’s world. Each week, Daniel Huerta and Stephen Huerta talk to CHROs, Chief People Officers, and other work experts about the work they’re doing to pioneer the way that we work. They share what’s working, what’s not, and how they’ve gotten to where they’re at in their careers.

  • AI & Recruitment: Future Proofing your processes with Olga Barrett

The Chad & Cheese Podcast

Self-proclaimed as HR’s most dangerous podcast, this US-based recruitment podcast says it like it is. Hosts Chad Sowash and Joel Cheesman say exactly what’s on their minds and add a unique perspective and brash flavour to the generally bland stew of hum-drum “yes-yes”. If you like listening to unfiltered conversations, then this is the podcast for you.
