Giulia will share some real life learnt lessons from the mining industry (that can be transferred and applied to all work environments). Core discussion will focus on influencing positive change through inclusive leadership behaviours such as values-based communication, storytelling and role modelling, to foster a culture of belonging and high performing teams.
Outcomes from the session include;
- Learn how to create moments that matter through equitable opportunity for employees to participate and learn together.
- Understand some of the core dimensions of diversity and inclusion, as well as the impacts (both challenges and opportunities) to employees, business and broader community.
- Hear about the skills, knowledge and behaviours to improve your work environment to be more inclusive.
- Progress to an informed mindset shift from the personal growth developed through self-reflection and learning from others experiences.
About Giulia
Giulia is the Group Manager Diversity & Organisational Effectiveness at St Barbara Mining Limited. Previously she has operated as an Independent Consultant to both the resources and government sector and held the role of Principal – Diversity and Inclusion with Newcrest Mining Limited from 2018 until 2020. She has over 12 years’ experience working in complex organisations, operating in challenging environments across Australia, Papua New Guinea, and Canada as a senior leader specialising in relationship/stakeholder management and culture transformation. She demonstrates a passion for the mining industry, specifically developing an engaged and diverse workforce based around creating inclusive environments, that both educate and support people and the wider communities in which they work.
Giulia holds a Masters of Business Administration from the Australian Institute of Business, and a Bachelor of Arts with a double major in Media and Communication, and Public Relations from Deakin University. In 2019, Giulia started a doctorate with Australian Institute of Business to complete a research degree exploring and providing deeper understanding for the industry on the specific challenges and opportunities of creating diverse and inclusion work environments.
Giulia is a Director sitting on the Gold Industry Group Board and a Councillor for AusIMM’s Council for Diversity & Inclusion.
