Strengths Based Hiring in 2022
Chris Battle - Cappfinity

Summary:

Hiring is not the only challenge of 2022. People all over the world confess to a state called languishing. Acquiring skills when people are practiced at them but not motivated by them doesn’t set anyone up to thrive. Enter Strengths based hiring…

Strengths are the things that we do well and find energising, and it is widely recognised that people who are recruited and developed on the basis of strengths deliver higher performance in roles and are more productive and successful in achieving their goals.

What are these new skills and strengths and how are they identified?

Chris will share the findings from a deep 21,000 profile comparison study on what strengths have emerged as critical for the workforce of 2022 and beyond, as well as how to identify and measure strengths in our people and new hires. Then we’ll discuss in groups how this may impact our own changing workforces.

Speakers:

Chris Battle

Client Success Director, Cappfinity

Day 1: 28th March, 2022
2:40 pm - 3:00 pm
The Merit Myth
Nicola Harrison - Monash Talent

Summary:

Somewhere along the way we became obsessed with the idea of merit. Touted as an ideal that allows the best to stand out from the rest, merit is often used as little more than a smokescreen to stifle diversity of people and thought within organisations. But merit is based on an idea of equality that presumes everyone starts at the same place, and that the only thing standing between them and success is hard work and elbow grease. Without realising it, TA functions have become obsessed with a version of Meritocracy that is the natural enemy equity, growth, and diversity.

Nicola Harrison, Executive Director at Monash Talent will take us through how to dismantle our preconceived concepts of merit and work towards more equitable models of valuation.

The Exceptional Debate

Summary:

The Exceptional Debate (far better and different to Great!) is a dynamic, interactive (dare we say almost performative) session that serves as a vehicle to explore an idea and challenge previous perceptions.

The theme (Talent/Workforce related) is announced, teams are formed through self-selection and winners decided by audience participation. How many people can you turn? Will you be turned? Your opening thinking may even lead you to abandon your own team and position…

Join us as we share stories and enjoy deep, light and hilarious inspection of one big idea. No, we can’t tell you what it is, that would be cheating.

Day 1: 28th March, 2022
4:00 pm - 5:00 pm
Enjoy drinks and social togetherness
