
The #tru carnival finally came to Australia for the first time and was held at the Royal Melbourne Hotel - 629 Bourke Street, Melbourne.
Over the last few years, Australia has been the forefront in recruitment and talent management thinking. It has a growing community in the "people" space. #truAustralia was attracting track leaders from Australasia, US and UK to join in the conversation and all in all was a really 'truly' exciting event! One that you needed to be there to experience!
For those that don't know what a #truEvent is...it is a pure unconference, where the emphasis is on conversation, communication and the free exchange of ideas and experiences. Participants come from the people space, usually made up of Recruiters, corporate and agency, Human Resources, Talent Acquisition, Technology Developers and Vendors etc, anyone with an interest in people.
The format was to run a minimum of 3 tracks each hour. The tracks were started by a track leader who has experience of the discussion topic. The role of the track leader was to start the conversation and let the conversation evolve wherever it goes. Participants were actively encouraged to move between tracks according to what they needed individually. No one was offended and there is no need to stand on ceremony.

Anyone who attended the first #truAustralia event could lead a track. There was no need for speaker applications or preparation. If you had a track you wanted to start, all they had to do was let us know and we would find some space and announce it.
