Day 1: 13th November, 201411:30 am - 12:00 pmKeynote Session: Applying the Fundamentals of Inbound Marketing to Talent Sourcing
Matt Charney - Recruiting DailySummary:
It’s no secret that the way top talent finds jobs – and the way companies find top talent – has evolved. Today, the line between “passive” and “active” candidates has blurred, with the average candidate doing most of their job search research online, long before they actually apply for a position or return a recruiter’s cold call. This candidate behaviour is why employers need to rethink how they build their sourcing and talent attraction strategies around these new online behaviours. Employers are increasingly adopting inbound marketing best practices to creating successful sourcing strategies.
In this session Matt will show delegates how building a comprehensive inbound marketing strategy as part of your sourcing efforts can create the competitive edge companies need to recruit and retain the talent they need today – and tomorrow – while saving time, money and resources.
This session will cover:
- The Inbound Marketing Process: Learn how to drive and develop inbound leads and how to mix automation with personalization to keep your company top of mind with top talent as they move through the funnel from qualification to conversion.
- Sourcing With Inbound Marketing: Discover the tools, techniques and benchmarks for building a successful inbound marketing program to support direct sourcing strategies.
- Content Creation and Campaign: Explore best practice content creation from companies who are getting inbound sourcing right. Learn how to get content in front of the right candidates, ensuring that your calls to action convert into qualified applicants and leads through SEO/SEM, custom microsites and landing pages, CRM campaigns, social and content marketing and other emerging inbound best practices.

Day 1: 13th November, 20141:30 pm - 2:00 pmBreakout 1A: Sourcing Mobile Technology
Mark Tortorici - Transform Talent AcquisitionSummary:
Everyone knows that mobile device use is eclipsing desktop use. Because of that, companies are pouring money, resources, and advertising into the mobile space. The current version of the mobile space as we know it is pretty new (I’m only counting from 2007 on…) and there is so much more that is going to happen in the future. Software and hardware companies need developers and engineers for every aspect of hand-held devices. The problem is that most people think that all mobile software developers are the same. And even if they think they are different, most people don’t know how to identify differences between:
- Mobile app developers (Android, iPhone, and Windows)
- QA automation engineers (developing test frameworks for mobile SW)
- Mobile web developers
- Embedded developers (drivers, networking devices, storage)
- Embedded OS developers (iOS, Windows Mobile, Android, Linux)
- IC Design Engineers
- Hardware Design Engineers

Day 1: 13th November, 20142:00 pm - 2:30 pmLab 2C: Transforming Job Requirements Into Sourcing Strategies
Mark Tortorici - Transform Talent AcquisitionSummary:
The number one difficulty for sourcers and recruiters is how to understand the job requirement well enough to create an actionable sourcing strategy. This encompasses everything from search strings, screening questions, social messaging, emails and everything in-between. With top talent becoming a scarce commodity, the sourcing strategies and tools must be honed to razor perfection.
In this lab session, Mark will dissect job requirements and functions. Figure out multiple ways to capture the correct candidates. Learn that there are many ways that the job title you’re searching for can be phrased. Boolean strings are just a level one ability. But making a search string work within any website is something else.
The same level of thinking goes into the candidate screening process. If you’re asking questions that can be answered with “yes” or “no”, then they are the wrong questions. If your recruitment messaging is all about the “job opportunity”, then you could be turning off those passive candidates that you are desperate to capture.
Also in this presentation, Mark will talk steps that you need to follow when tackling a new job requirement, the types of questions you should formulate, and the messaging that you are sending out. You’ll come away with a completely new approach to the sourcing strategies that you use.Speakers:

Derek Zeller - MicrosoftSummary:
A monkey with a keyboard can source talent on LinkedIn, but what comes next? In this new world of social, recruitment is now more about conversation and engagement and less about searching and broadcasting. So, how can recruiters start to seduce candidates the same way Amazon and Zappos do? In this session Derek will demonstrate how anyone can attract and recruit like a sexy top 100 company by creating win-win engagement between candidates and recruiters and using tactics that align with the candidate’s value proposition. Delegates will learn how to interact with candidates across a diverse range of interactive channels, build rich conversations and foster strong emotional connection with an employer brand to ensure long-term talent acquisition success.
