Al Adamsen - Talent Strategy InstituteSummary:
Many organisations perpetually struggle with managing internal data and the technologies that capture, aggregate, analyse, and visualise them. Deeper, more strategic insights are most often gained through intensive research projects. Meanwhile, business leaders have ever-changing needs and they want decision-support that’s accurate, timely, and relevant. This session will explore how to develop such a capability considering the multitude of options, everything from BI and NLP to ONA/SNA, A.I., and machine learning. It will consider leading practices and explore emerging innovations. Ultimately, you will walk away with a clearer understanding of where the People Analytics discipline is heading, and how they can deliver uncommon value to leaders, managers, HR professionals, and employees themselves.

Dr Peter O’Hanlon - Lever AnalyticsSummary:
This interactive session will have you working in groups and contributing ideas to look at how you can start incorporating and leveraging people analytics into each stage of the employee journey. Using a Journey Map with components from hire, develop, perform, promote, retain and depart, we’ll be looking at critical decisions that are mutually made by both employee and employer and examining what happens when they are aggregated across the workforce to drive business outcomes.
We’ll also be looking at different organisational set-ups of the workforce analytics function and how you can incorporate insight from analytical modelling of your workforce and business data to increase business application for data driven workforce decision making.
You’ll walk away with a People Analytics Value Chain where, together, we have determined key metrics for each stage of the employee journey, re-imagined what data and analysis might be relevant for each decision and developed an operational framework for deploying the value chain into the business.

Day 1: 17th October, 20171:30 pm - 2:15 pmBreakout Session 1B - Workforce Planning in an Uncertain World: Probability and Decision Trees
Andrew Smith - People Experience SolutionsSummary:
The simple truth is that the future is extremely difficult to predict. Humans are not really wired to account for the number of variables involved in determining the market conditions and supply factors that will influence workforce requirements in more than, say, one to two years. We will be wrong, in some significant regard, every single time.
In this session you will learn how to take account of that uncertainty in a rational way, using decision trees and measured investment decisions. You will walk away with some of the skills needed to ensure that all your eggs are in a suitable number of baskets!
We will step through the process for making more rational choices, while at the same time experiencing how we can facilitate these conversations with diverse groups. This isn’t just about maths – it’s more about communication. The session will be interactive and collaborative.

Day 1: 17th October, 20173:30 pm - 4:00 pmGeneral Session - The Promises & Perils of Predictive Analytics
Kevin Wheeler - Future of Talent InstituteSummary:
The world of recruiting will be enriched with analytics, but we need to be aware of both the upside and downside of the emerging tools. These tools, such as chatbots, CRM and assessment tools, promise to make our lives easier by helping us make better decisions, hire superior people and do everything faster. But do they deliver? Can they deliver? Is everything just marketing hype?
Kevin will talk about the promises and explain how these tools work. He will reveal the limits of these tools and what you can realistically expect. He will also discuss what can go wrong and talk about the implicit biases that can be embedded in some of the tools and also how algorithms need to be used with caution.
This eye-opening talk will help you get a deeper understanding of what analytics can do and what it cannot.

Day 2: 18th October, 20179:00 am - 11:30 amWorkshop Session 1A - The Audit, Vision, & Roadmap (AVR) Process: How to Create or Accelerate Your Organisation's People Analytics Capability
Al Adamsen - Talent Strategy InstituteSummary:
A key stumbling block to realising leading-edge value from People Analytics initiatives is the fact that few have taken the time to create a common, comprehensive understanding of where their organisation’s capability is currently, where it’s going in the near future, and how best they’re going to move from the current state to the future state. Organisations that do this and consciously adjust along the way are the ones creating uniquely valuable experiences for leaders, managers, HR professionals, and employees themselves. Whether your organisation is just starting, re-starting, or moving to the next stage of its People Analytics journey, this session will provide proven methods for auditing current capabilities and limitations, formulating an inspiring vision for the future, and creating a roadmap to get there.

Kevin Wheeler - Future of Talent InstituteSummary:

But more specifically, we will offer a step-by-step process to ensure that your analytics are accurate and produce the desired outcomes. We will cover the four steps to a robust people analytics function: How to get a deep understanding of the desired outcomes, a method to achieve agreement on the candidate success characteristics, a way to discover when to use human judgement to augment the analytics and a method for continuously learning and improving.

Day 2: 18th October, 20171:30 pm - 4:00 pmWorkshop 2B - 2.5 years of business transformation in 2.5 hours - the power of People Analytics
Dr Peter O’Hanlon - Lever AnalyticsSummary:
The rate of business change continues to accelerate. If the pressure to keep up seems overwhelming, then setting the direction can seem out of reach. And yet, leaders of people functions are expected to elevate their contributions from executing traditional HR processes to making a strategic contribution to business performance.
In this 2.5-hour workshop, we will workshop a scenario and navigate a business through unchartered territory. Competitors that seek to disrupt, changes in the talent acquisition landscape, revenues that rise and fall, leadership coming and going, changes to market strategy, and cultural shifts. We’ll use a modern approach to people analytics to help the business understand where it is at, make decisions about where it should go, measure the transformation and correct it for business performance.
This workshop will be fun, practical, strategic and it will provide you with a new way of looking at your business.
At the end of the session, you will have a framework for intelligently harnessing feedback that will create insight, drive desired change and allow you to measure and report on the impact.
