Todd Wheatland - King ContentSummary:
The Cult Of Work
The sheer volume of social media noise makes it increasingly hard for companies to ‘stand out’ – and ways of getting ‘free’ visibility have largely dried up.
This has prompted a major re-think from many organisations, to get back to basics and focus on the new overlap between employer brand, the personal brands of employees, and the renewed power of employee advocacy.
The most successful brands are instead starting from the ‘inside’ – understanding and engaging existing employees, and leveraging the strength of those relationships to attract new talent into the organisation.
And they’re applying marketing strategy and a suite of tools to make it happen at scale.

Reporting: Why time to fill and cost per hire are dead on arrival metrics
As talent acquisition continues to evolve from reactive to proactive, and taking more of an engagement approach to its activities, the metrics we use to measure effectiveness and drive change within our HR organisations must evolve too.
Join Riges to discover how leading organisations are moving away from a one-size-fits all reporting model into measures that are tailored to specific to the business, department and types of jobs we are recruiting for today. He will specifically examine why time-to-fill and cost-per-hire are DOA (dead on arrival) metrics and potentially the worst measures for HR, and how by getting rid of such generic metrics, we can start determine how well the hiring process meets targets that make sense.
You’ll also learn how to identify the right metrics for finding and attracting top talent, servicing your stakeholders, and discover the only metric that really matters.

Sue Langley - Langley GroupSummary:
Enhancing Candidate Experience and Brand Attachment
Lessons From Neuroscience and Positive Psychology
Humans are social and emotional beings, and a positive connection with people in the company can make the difference between a candidate promoting or resenting the brand.
Our brains are designed to perceive negative interpersonal experiences such as a stressful interview or perfunctory, impersonal rejection as a threat. This can trigger the flight or fight response and actively cause candidates to avoid the brand. On the other hand, when recruiters or HR leaders create a positive and authentic connection with candidates, they trigger the reward mechanisms of the brain leaving candidates with positive feelings even if they are not successful in securing the job.
This thought-provoking and inspiring explores:
- Why HR leaders and recruiters should care about candidate personalisation and relationships
- How the brain responds to different experiences and messages during recruitment (and beyond)
- What you can do to create a positive, rewarding and personal experience for candidates whether they are successful or not
- Fresh approaches leading organisations are applying to attract and engage diverse candidates based on the latest research in brain science and positive psychology.

Hiring and Artificial Intelligence: A Discussion of Bias and Superhuman Evaluators
As humans we are programmed at an early age to categorise what is good and bad. Electricity will shock you. Texting while driving is bad. Chocolate ice cream is….you decide. When we evaluate people and their fit (good or bad) within our organisations, there are no easy decisions. In fact, many of the ways we make hiring or evaluation decisions are prone to errors. Interviews and people are subject to inherent bias. Can Artificial Intelligence help or is it inherently biased? Dr. Nathan Mondragon will discuss bias in hiring science, if AI can help, and whether machines can complement humans to make superhuman evaluators of talent. He will share real world HR examples, not “pie in the sky” talk.
